Our Renewable Energy Focus
Canada is a world leader in the production and consumption of energy from renewable resources. Renewable energy sources currently provide about 18.9 per cent of Canada’s total primary energy supply. Hydroelectric generation has been the backbone of power generation infrastructure in many provinces across Canada, and wind and solar energy are quickly becoming an important part of Canada’s electricity supply.
Regional Power is focused on developing renewable energy facilities across Canada. The company focuses on technologies that are proven and produce high quality and high value electricity. Regional Power is seeking to deploy capital and leverage its core capabilities in development, engineering and construction, to expand into pump hydro, wind and solar.
Our Successful Development Approach
Balanced Approach to Development – Regional Power’s strength is taking a balanced approach to development focused on social, economic, technical and environmental aspects, and working in collaboration with local communities and agencies throughout the development process.
Environmental Solutions – Regional Power has a history of finding environmental solutions through careful site selection, extensive investigation of the environmental conditions, and formulation of a design that mitigates the impact on the environment while making the most of the available resource.
Many of the plants developed and operated by Regional Power have been certified “EcoLogo” under Environment Canada’s Environmental Choice labelling program.
Regional Power’s owned and operated sites produce ~280,000 MWh/ year, offsetting an estimated 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year when compared to coal plants.
